A core mission of Pali Canon Online is to provide a clean, accessible, human-readable edition of the Canon with minimal formatting. Our goal is to offer files that:
- Use sentence-level IDs for consistent citation and reference
- Are ready to print and read, or drop into projects with no additional cleanup
- Avoid footnotes, ellipses, and editorial interruptions — preserving the original structure as clearly as possible
At this stage, we are linking to currently available editions of the Canon hosted elsewhere. Our own text files — rebuilt with these principles — are in development and will be published here as they become available.
